Fahmi Says Negeri Sembilan Political Turmoil Will Not Disrupt Federal Unity Government

Kuala Lumpur, 28 April 2026 – Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has said the ongoing political and administrative turmoil in Negeri Sembilan has not affected relations within Malaysia’s federal unity government, as Putrajaya seeks to contain the impact of state-level uncertainty involving Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional.

Fahmi, who is also the unity government spokesperson, said the developments in Negeri Sembilan remain specific to the state and have not disrupted the functioning of the federal administration. His remarks came after political tensions escalated when all 14 UMNO and BN assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan withdrew support for the state government led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
