Najib Drops Appeal Over House Arrest Bid, Leaving High Court Rejection In Place

Putrajaya, 27 April 2026 – Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has withdrawn his appeal against the High Court’s dismissal of his bid to serve the remainder of his jail sentence under house arrest, ending another chapter in one of Malaysia’s most closely watched legal and political cases.

The appeal was struck out after Najib filed a notice of discontinuance. No reason was given for the withdrawal. According to court records cited by Free Malaysia Today, the filing stated that the appeal was discontinued “without liberty to file afresh and with no order as to costs”, meaning Najib cannot bring the same appeal again in this case.
