KUALA LUMPUR, 13 January 2026 — Semico Capital Berhad, a provider of family entertainment products and services as well as a wholesaler and distributor of toys and collectables, has made a strong debut on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad, underscoring robust investor appetite for consumer-driven leisure and lifestyle businesses.
The company, listed under the Consumer Products and Services sector with the stock name SEMICO and stock code 0388, opened at 45 sen at the opening bell, representing an 80% premium over its issue price of 25 sen.
The strong market debut followed an oversubscription rate of 28.09 times for its initial public offering, reflecting investor confidence in Semico Capital’s operating model, expansion strategy and exposure to Malaysia’s growing family entertainment segment.
A Milestone Listing for a Growing Consumer Play
Semico Capital’s Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tai Lee Chuen, said the successful listing marks a pivotal milestone for the Group as it enters its next phase of growth as a publicly listed company.
“The successful listing of Semico Capital on the ACE Market of Bursa Securities marks a pivotal milestone for us. It reflects the dedication of our team and the steady progress we have achieved over the years,” he said.
“With listing proceeds of RM23.2 million, we are well positioned to accelerate our growth plans and pursue new opportunities within the family entertainment industry.”
Capitalising on Shifting Consumer Lifestyles
Management highlighted that the family entertainment industry continues to benefit from evolving consumer lifestyles, urbanisation and a growing emphasis on shared leisure experiences, particularly among families and younger demographics.
In line with these trends, Semico Capital plans to expand and refresh its arcade and amusement machine fleet nationwide. IPO proceeds have been earmarked for the acquisition of 188 new arcade and amusement machines and the replacement of 55 existing machines, complementing the Group’s current installed base of approximately 650 machines across Malaysia.
Beyond arcades, Semico Capital also plans to broaden its toys and collectables portfolio, building on an existing range of 68 established brands. The Group intends to introduce new merchandise featuring popular intellectual property designs and characters, aimed at strengthening customer engagement and reinforcing its position within the collectables and hobbyist segment.
“These initiatives will ensure we continue to deliver relevant and in-demand products within a growing market,” Tai added.
Clear Use of IPO Proceeds
The Group has outlined a clear and disciplined allocation plan for the RM23.2 million raised from the IPO:
- RM8.5 million (36.7%) for the purchase of new arcade and amusement machines to support expansion
- RM2.1 million (8.9%) for the replacement of existing machines
- RM2.5 million (10.8%) for the purchase of toys and collectables
- RM1.6 million (6.9%) for repayment of bank borrowings
- RM4.0 million (17.3%) for working capital
- RM4.5 million (19.4%) to defray listing expenses
Market observers note that the emphasis on asset expansion and inventory growth signals management’s confidence in demand visibility, while modest debt repayment and working capital allocation provide balance sheet flexibility post-listing.
Backed by a Strong IPO Advisory Team
The IPO exercise was led by Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad, which acted as Principal Adviser, Sponsor, Sole Placement Agent and Sole Underwriter.
With its ACE Market listing completed and a strong market reception, Semico Capital enters 2026 with fresh capital, enhanced visibility and a clearer platform to scale within Malaysia’s expanding consumer entertainment and lifestyle ecosystem.
