Zuckerberg Pushes Faster US AI Development Over New Restrictions

Menlo Park, 29 July 2026 – Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg is urging the United States to accelerate artificial-intelligence development rather than impose broad restrictions, arguing that public debate has become insufficiently optimistic about the technology’s potential benefits.

Zuckerberg’s position places access and innovation at the centre of the policy contest. He has cited historical patterns, recent employment data and his own use of AI in areas such as parenting and fitness as reasons to expect positive outcomes. His concern is that pessimistic voices could shape who is allowed to use rapidly advancing systems.
