US Signals Openness to Iran Talks as Conflict Threatens Global Energy Routes

Manila, 22 July 2026 – The United States remains willing to negotiate an end to the Iran crisis, although Washington has questioned Tehran’s commitment to meaningful talks as the widening conflict disrupts shipping across two of the world’s most important energy corridors.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington remained open to a diplomatic settlement but would continue protecting its interests and allies if Iran failed to engage seriously.
