Bangkok, 2 September 2026 – Thailand’s leading private-sector economic committee has raised its 2026 gross domestic product growth forecast to between 2.1% and 2.5%, up from an earlier range of 1.6% to 2.0%. The Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking also lifted its export-growth projection to 12%–16% from 8%–10%, while maintaining a headline inflation estimate of 2.5%–3.0%. The revision signals that trade and investment are providing firmer support than previously expected, even as the benefits remain uneven across businesses and households.
The upgrade gives investors a more constructive starting point for assessing Thai equities, credit and the baht. Export-oriented manufacturers, logistics operators, industrial-estate developers and banks financing new capacity could benefit if external demand holds. The forecast also points to private investment as a more important growth engine, particularly in data centres and industries linked to foreign direct investment. These areas can generate construction activity and demand for utilities, digital infrastructure and specialised services before new facilities reach full production.
