Taipei, 21 October 2026 – Taiwan’s Fair Trade Commission has prohibited Grab Holdings Limited’s proposed US$600 million acquisition of Delivery Hero SE’s Foodpanda delivery business in Taiwan. Three commissioners supported blocking the transaction, one favoured conditional approval and one did not participate, according to the regulator’s disclosed decision.
The decision matters to Asian platform investors because it stops a major consolidation in a market dominated by Foodpanda and Uber Eats. The prohibition is final at the commission level but may be challenged through available legal procedures. It does not prevent Grab from expanding organically or pursuing a materially different transaction.
