George Town, 3 August 2026 – Penang DAP chairman Steven Sim has dismissed PAS’s confidence that it could take control of Penang, saying electoral outcomes should be assessed through governance, public service and the ability to meet the state’s economic and social priorities.
Sim’s response followed renewed optimism among PAS leaders that changing voter sentiment could create a pathway for the party and Perikatan Nasional to secure the state administration in a future election. The opposition’s confidence has grown alongside its expanding support in several northern and semi-urban constituencies.
