Tokyo, 6 August 2026 – SoftBank Group reported a better-than-expected quarterly profit as a sharp increase in the value of its Intel stake offset weaker performance elsewhere in the Japanese technology investor’s portfolio.

Net income for the three months ended 30 June declined by less than analysts had anticipated, supported by a ¥1.3 trillion, or approximately US$8.5 billion, investment gain from Intel. The US chipmaker’s shares rose 216% during the quarter, transforming SoftBank’s investment into the dominant contributor to its latest earnings.
