Kuala Lumpur, 8 August 2026 – Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has issued a strict timeline giving major social media platforms and internet messaging services several months to comply with Malaysia’s newly enacted child safety guidelines and platform licensing framework. The regulatory directive, enforced by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, sets a firm grace period for global tech conglomerates to align their operational protocols with national child protection and digital safety standards.
