Singapore, 14 August 2026 – Fresh technology graduates are entering a labour market where artificial intelligence is raising expectations for entry-level work rather than simply eliminating it. Employers increasingly want candidates who can apply AI tools to business problems, work independently and combine technical knowledge with communication, judgement and commercial awareness.
The shift reflects a change in job design. Routine coding, testing and documentation can be accelerated by automation, allowing companies to ask junior employees to contribute at a level previously associated with more experienced staff. That creates productivity potential, but it also narrows the space in which graduates traditionally learned through lower-risk tasks.
