Singapore, 2 August 2026 – Hundreds of people struggling with vaping and so-called Kpod addiction have approached Singapore’s Institute of Mental Health (IMH) for assistance, revealing how the problem is moving beyond public-health concerns into the workplace and wider economy.
Some patients seeking treatment for dependence on etomidate-laced vaporisers had lost their jobs after their condition affected attendance, performance and daily functioning. Others experienced strained family relationships and mounting financial pressures, illustrating the broader consequences of an illegal vaping market increasingly associated with psychoactive substances.
