Singapore, 2 October 2026 – Singapore Exchange and Vietnam Exchange have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation and examine a depository-receipt linkage between their markets, creating a potential new channel for investors to access Vietnamese and Singapore-listed securities. SGX shares closed unchanged at S$22.61 on Thursday before the announcement became a market focus.

The agreement builds on a 2024 arrangement and establishes a framework for the exchanges to study and develop depository-receipt products. Depository receipts can represent ownership in securities listed in another market, allowing investors to trade exposure through familiar infrastructure, settlement systems and local intermediaries. The exact product design, eligible companies, currencies and launch timetable have not been disclosed.
