Putrajaya, 4 March 2026 – The investigation report into the shareholding issue involving Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki is expected to be completed within the next one or two days, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The report is being prepared by a Special Investigation Committee tasked with examining allegations related to Azam Baki’s ownership of company shares. Once finalised, the findings will be submitted to the government for review before any further decisions are made.
Investigation Progress Nearing Completion
Speaking in Parliament, Anwar said the inquiry panel had been working to conclude its findings and that the report was expected to be ready soon. The government intends to review the findings carefully once they are submitted.
The prime minister also indicated that calls for a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the issue are premature until the special committee completes its investigation and presents its conclusions.
Background of the Shareholding Issue
The investigation centres on allegations concerning Azam Baki’s share ownership in several companies, which raised questions about possible breaches of regulations governing public officials’ asset declarations and shareholdings.
Azam Baki has previously stated that he has nothing to hide and has cooperated fully with the investigation, including giving statements to the committee examining the matter.
The case has attracted significant public and political attention in recent weeks, with some groups calling for greater transparency and accountability in the investigation process.
Government Awaiting Findings
Anwar emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring a transparent and fair investigative process, noting that the matter remains under active review until the committee completes its work.
Once the report is finalised and reviewed, the government is expected to determine whether further actions or institutional measures are required.
