Tokyo, 7 October 2026 – Japan’s US$15 billion-backed Rapidus semiconductor venture is approaching its most important commercial test: converting state support, advanced manufacturing partnerships and pilot progress into a credible customer base for planned two-nanometre chip production.

Rapidus has unveiled a global ecosystem framework involving 17 companies, including design-software and technology-service groups, to help customers move from early chip design towards production. The initiative is intended to reduce the development barriers facing prospective clients and create a pipeline before commercial manufacturing begins in the second half of the next fiscal year. It is an important enabling step, but participation by design partners is not the same as committed wafer orders.
