KUALA LUMPUR: Proton Holdings Bhd has signed a strategic partnership with Touch ’n Go Sdn Bhd to equip the latest Proton X50 with Touch ’n Go’s RFID technology.
In a joint statement, the companies said the collaboration—sealed through a memorandum of understanding (MoU)—represents a key step in advancing Malaysia’s connected mobility ecosystem.
Under the agreement, every new Proton X50 will be fitted with a Touch ’n Go RFID tag during production, giving drivers seamless access to Malaysia’s extensive RFID-enabled highway network.
Touch ’n Go chief executive officer Praba Sangarajoo said the partnership highlights the possibilities when two homegrown brands join forces.
“You can drive your Proton X50 straight from the showroom with RFID ready to go. It’s not just smarter mobility—it’s about adding value and joy to everyday travel,” he said.
The partnership may also extend to other Proton models in the future. Proton Edar deputy chief executive officer Zhang Qiang said the company aims to bring the same convenience to more customers.
“With upcoming launches, we’re exploring the installation of Touch ’n Go RFID tags across other models. This is one of the steps we’re taking to enhance customer satisfaction,” he added.
