IPOH: Perak Transit Berhad (“PTRANS” or “the Group”) has announced its Smart Mobility Initiative, a strategic programme aimed at modernising Malaysia’s public transport ecosystem while supporting the nation’s broader Smart City development agenda.

The initiative introduces a series of technology-driven components to enhance efficiency, passenger experience, and sustainability across the Group’s operations. These include:

  • Smart Buses – vehicles fitted with real-time information systems, enhanced safety technologies, and seamless digital connectivity.
  • Smart Bus Stops – a pilot project featuring telecommunication transmitters, digital billboards, Wi-Fi access, CCTV surveillance, and solar-powered LED street lighting to improve commuter safety and convenience.
  • PTRANS SuperApp – a unified mobile platform integrating ticketing, journey planning, payment solutions, and loyalty programmes to provide commuters with seamless access to PTRANS’ services.

According to the Group, these initiatives are designed to strengthen PTRANS’ position as a leading public transport provider while aligning with Malaysia’s national priorities of digitalisation, sustainability, and Smart City growth.

The Smart Mobility Initiative is expected to create new revenue streams, enhance operational efficiency, and position PTRANS for long-term growth. The Group said the forward-looking strategy is intended to deliver sustainable value to shareholders while contributing positively to society and the environment.

PTRANS is currently engaging with government authorities and potential industry partners to explore strategic collaborations under the initiative. At present, the programme remains in the collaboration stage, with agreements being finalised. The Group confirmed that further announcements will be made once definitive contracts are secured.
