WASHINGTON, 31 October 2025 — Streaming giant Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ: NFLX) has announced a ten-for-one stock split, aiming to make its high-priced shares more accessible to retail investors and employees participating in its stock option program.
The company said it will issue nine additional shares for each share held after the close of trading on 10 November 2025. Trading on a split-adjusted basis is expected to begin at the market open on 17 November 2025.
The move comes as Netflix’s stock, which has soared more than 360% over the past three years, continues to outpace rivals Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) and Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ: CMCSA). The stock rose 3% in extended trading to US$1,123.49 following the announcement, giving the company a market capitalization of US$461.44 billion as of Thursday’s close.
Third Split Since 2002 Listing
This will mark Netflix’s third stock split since its public debut in 2002, and its first in six years. The company’s previous split in 2019 reduced the per-share price from around US$700 to about US$100, broadening its investor base at the time.
“A split will make it easier for small investors to buy in, but it doesn’t change anything about the company or its attractiveness to institutional investors who drive the market,” said Ross Benes, senior analyst at eMarketer.
Riding on Content Strength and Growth Momentum
Netflix’s share rally has been underpinned by a consistent string of global content hits, including the recent animated feature “KPop Demon Hunters.” The company’s strong original programming pipeline and expanding global subscriber base have helped maintain its leadership position in the streaming industry.
Netflix currently trades at a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 45.96, significantly above Walt Disney’s 17.54 and Comcast’s 6.89, underscoring investor confidence in its long-term earnings potential.
