Mark Ruffalo Joins Cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Mark Ruffalo is set to appear alongside Tom Holland in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, reprising his role as Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 57-year-old actor will join the next chapter of the Spider-Man saga, which sees Holland returning as Peter Parker.

The sequel will also see the return of Michael Mando as the Scorpion, a villain first introduced in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, as well as Jon Bernthal, reprising his role as the Punisher.

Holland, now 29, recently spoke about his excitement to return to the Spider-Man universe. Reflecting on the challenges faced during the filming of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, he noted that pandemic restrictions limited their creative scope.

β€œI think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID,” Holland told Flip Your Wig. β€œWe shot the entire film on stages. Now we’re really going to lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations. We are going to use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together.”

He likened returning to the role of Peter Parker to β€œhanging out with an old pal,” adding that working on the fourth film feels like a return to the spirit of 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

β€œIt’s been such a long time that I’ve done it that it’s going to feel like a breath of fresh air. I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together,” he said.

Zendaya will also return as MJ, along with Jacob Batalon reprising his role as Ned, Peter’s best friend. New to the cast is Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, though her role remains under wraps.

On Sunday morning (Aug 3), Marvel and Sony unveiled the first glimpse of Peter Parker’s new suit for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, generating buzz and excitement among fans.
