Putrajaya, 1 October 2026 – More than 268,000 taxpayers have submitted close to two billion electronic invoices under Malaysia’s phased digital-tax programme, according to the Inland Revenue Board. The scale shows that e-invoicing has moved from a limited pilot into a material part of business administration, but the submission total is a measure of activity rather than proof that every participant is fully compliant or that tax collections have risen by a similar amount.
The board’s chief executive, Abu Tariq Jamaluddin, reported 1.99 billion submissions as of 1 October. An earlier account rounded the figure to nearly 1.9 billion; the two public descriptions should not be treated as separate datasets. The more precise figure is attributed to the official’s later statement, while the central conclusion remains that invoice validations are approaching two billion since the programme began in August 2024.
