Kuala Lumpur, 9 October 2026 – Malaysia aims to produce 30,000 graduates skilled in artificial intelligence between 2025 and 2030 through 30 specialised programmes across 11 public universities. The target addresses automation and future workforce needs, but its economic value will depend on whether graduates gain practical capabilities that employers can convert into productivity, products and research.
The programmes span bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels and are being supported by national programme standards developed through the Malaysian Qualifications Agency. The framework seeks consistent academic quality as universities expand capacity. Accreditation establishes a baseline, although technology changes faster than conventional curriculum cycles.
