Malaysia Reaffirms Commitment to Rules-Based Trade at APEC Meeting in Suzhou

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 May 2026 – Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to an open, transparent and rules-based global trading system, positioning the World Trade Organisation as the central anchor for long-term trade stability at a time when global supply chains face rising geopolitical, technological and sustainability pressures.

The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry said Malaysia delivered the message at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting in Suzhou, China, where economies gathered from 22 to 23 May 2026 under China’s APEC host year theme, “Building an Asia-Pacific Community to Prosper Together.”
