Putrajaya, 28 July 2026 – Malaysia’s Producer Price Index for local production rose 9.2% year-on-year in June 2026, its strongest increase this year, as higher energy-related and manufacturing costs broadened inflationary pressure across the domestic production chain.
The latest reading accelerated from May’s 7.8% increase and marked a sharp reversal from the 4.2% contraction recorded in June 2025. All five major sectors reported higher producer prices, indicating that cost pressures were no longer confined to commodities and mining activities.
