Malaysia Launches MY-AI Standards Platform to Strengthen Responsible Artificial Intelligence Governance

Cyberjaya, 10 March 2026 – Malaysia has launched MY-AI Standards, a national digital platform aimed at strengthening governance, implementation and responsible development of artificial intelligence across the country’s digital ecosystem.

The initiative forms part of Malaysia’s broader ambition to become an AI-driven economy under the AI Nation 2030 vision, while supporting the Malaysia AI Action Plan 2026–2030, which focuses on accelerating AI adoption in strategic sectors, developing national AI talent and strengthening governance frameworks for emerging technologies.

The platform also complements the government’s efforts to reinforce digital trust and cybersecurity, in line with the Digital Trust and Data Security Strategy 2026–2030, designed to increase confidence in Malaysia’s rapidly expanding digital economy.

National Platform to Guide AI Standards

The MY-AI Standards platform is designed as a centralised reference hub that enables organisations to better understand and implement international artificial intelligence standards.

It aims to assist a wide range of stakeholders including:

  • Government agencies
  • Private sector companies
  • Small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
  • Academic and research institutions

By providing structured guidance on international AI standards, the platform seeks to ensure that technological innovation evolves in parallel with key principles such as safety, ethics, transparency and reliability.

The digital hub also includes implementation tools such as templates, evaluation frameworks and readiness checklists to help organisations assess their preparedness in adopting AI technologies.

Launch Ceremony in Cyberjaya

The platform was officially launched by Gobind Singh Deo, Malaysia’s Minister of Digital, during a ceremony held at Cyber Axis Tower in Cyberjaya, one of the country’s key technology and innovation hubs.

Also present at the launch were Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Deputy Minister of Digital; Datuk Fabian Bigar, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Digital; and Al-Ishsal Ishak, Chairman of the Board of CyberSecurity Malaysia.

Aligning with Global AI Standards

Malaysia is also actively involved in the development of international AI governance frameworks through participation in ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42, the global technical committee responsible for developing artificial intelligence standards.

According to Al-Ishsal Ishak, the MY-AI Standards platform represents a strategic step in ensuring that the development of AI technologies in Malaysia remains safe, transparent and accountable.

“In a rapidly evolving AI landscape, policy alone is insufficient without clear, auditable standards,” he said during the launch.

Building Trust in the Digital Economy

Gobind Singh Deo emphasised that leadership in artificial intelligence is not only about technological capability but also about building trust in the digital ecosystem.

“AI leadership is not simply about having the most advanced technology. It is about building trust through strong governance and compliance with internationally recognised standards,” he said.

The initiative is expected to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a responsible digital innovation hub in Southeast Asia while supporting long-term economic growth through safe and trusted AI adoption.

Collaboration to Accelerate AI Readiness

The implementation of the platform will be coordinated through collaboration between CyberSecurity Malaysia and the National AI Office (NAIO).

This partnership is expected to enhance AI readiness across both public and private sectors, boost industry competitiveness and support Malaysia’s broader digital transformation agenda.

By integrating global standards with national digital policies, MY-AI Standards aims to ensure that Malaysia’s AI ecosystem grows in a manner that is secure, ethical and internationally aligned.
