Lions Club of KL North’s Blood Donation & Community Day Draws Strong Support Amid HTAR Shortage

SUBANG JAYA, SELANGOR – 23rd August 2025 – The community of Subang Jaya came together today at the scenic PARC (Project A Reka Cipta), a 7.5-acre urban park and community hub, for a day of giving and engagement. The “Blood Donation & Community Day” was a resounding success, not only collecting vital blood donations for Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR) but also showcasing the vibrant spirit of local organizations.

Jointly organized by Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North and the Summervilla Management Committee, the event saw a remarkable turnout of 45 individuals for the blood donation drive, with 39 successful donors contributing to a crucial cause and helping to alleviate HTAR’s blood shortage. The initiative was a powerful display of collaboration, with 21 dedicated Lion members and 17 non-Lion volunteers working tirelessly to ensure the day ran smoothly.

The event was also graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including:

  • Puan Hazlina Binti Abdul Hamid, Pegawai Kesihatan Persekitaran, Jabatan Kesihatan MBSJ
  • Tuan Ir. Balachandran Naicker, Ahli Majlis – Zon 1, Councillor for SS12 and Wangsa Baiduri

The event extended far beyond the blood drive, transforming the lush lakeside greenery of PARC into a bustling community space with 17 diverse booths. Attendees benefited from free health services, including eye tests by Malaya Optical and physio assessments by Sun Rehab Physio.

The event also highlighted the valuable work of non-profit organizations. Pertubuhan Kebajikan Lifelink Seribu Kasih (LSK), a Malaysian charity providing free home healthcare support to the low-income, had a presence to raise awareness. The Animal Kindness Coalition (AKC) also set up a booth to advocate for humane stray animal management and responsible pet ownership. The AKC’s presence helped to educate the public on their compassionate and sustainable approach, including the Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage (TNRM) program.

Other participating vendors and partners offered a wide range of services and products, including OlyLife International, Coway, La Chérir, Generali insurance, Rockwills (Will & Trust Adviser), Fengshui Living Academy, and Swim Life Academy. The community was also treated to unique experiences such as sound therapy by Sowav Technology, an energy healer, and an exhibition of Michelle Lin’s artwork as part of the Tiny Art Gala™ initiative, which celebrates creativity and inclusivity.

The event, which ran from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., also featured a selection of local F&B offerings, including artisanal coffee and Japanese comfort food, providing a curated experience for visitors.

“This event was a true testament to the power of community collaboration and PARC’s role as a gathering place,” said President Carmen Siah. “I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone e.g the volunteers, the donors, and our incredible partners. We truly couldn’t have done it without everyone’s effort.”

The “Blood Donation & Community Day” successfully brought together residents and organizations, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and highlighting the collective power of the community to make a positive impact.
