Lady Gaga Leads 2025 MTV VMAs With Record 12 Nominations, Set to Perform Live

NEW YORK: Pop superstar Lady Gaga will headline the stage at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), taking place at UBS Arena in New York this Sunday, 7 Sept.

The Poker Face hitmaker not only joins the show’s high-profile performance lineup but also leads this year’s nominations with 12 nods, marking the third time she has topped the list, an unprecedented feat in VMA history.

Joining Gaga on the bill are Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, Post Malone, Tate McRae, Sombr, Alex Warren, and J Balvin featuring DJ Snake. Mariah Carey, this year’s recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, will also deliver a medley of her greatest hits.

Bruno Mars follows closely behind with 11 nominations, while Kendrick Lamar has secured 10. Blackpink star Rosé and Sabrina Carpenter earned eight nominations each, including major categories such as Best Pop and Artist of the Year.

This year introduces two new categories: Best Country and Best Pop Artist.

The highly contested Artist of the Year award will feature an elite lineup of global stars: Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd.

With Gaga’s record-breaking 12 nominations and her highly anticipated performance, the 2025 MTV VMAs are set to be one of the most watched music events of the year.
