Tokyo, 29 October 2026 – Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Siemens Energy have signed a memorandum of cooperation to promote floating offshore wind projects, strengthen related supply chains and train specialist workers. Separately, Siemens Energy plans to establish an operations and maintenance facility in Eniwa, Hokkaido, in January 2027, which is intended to serve as its first such hub in Asia.
For Asian businesses and investors, the agreement links Japan’s renewable-energy ambitions with regional manufacturing, maintenance and workforce development. It is a cooperation framework, not an announced wind-farm award or a construction commitment. No project capacity, investment amount or commercial revenue has been disclosed in the material reviewed.
