Indonesia Sets 2.4% GDP Deficit Ceiling for 2027 Budget

Jakarta, 14 August 2026 – President Prabowo Subianto has proposed keeping Indonesia’s 2027 budget deficit at no more than 2.4% of gross domestic product, signalling that the government intends to pursue its development agenda within the country’s statutory fiscal framework. The ceiling sits at the top of an earlier planning range of 1.8% to 2.4% of GDP.

The government has projected 2027 economic growth within a 5.8% to 6.5% range, with revenue targeted at roughly 11.8% to 12.4% of GDP and expenditure at 13.6% to 14.8%. Those assumptions indicate an effort to combine faster expansion with a deficit below the 3% legal threshold.
