Singapore, 7 September 2026 – Gold steadied near US$4,430 an ounce after stronger United States employment data revived expectations that the Federal Reserve could increase interest rates at its September meeting. Spot bullion was 0.1 per cent lower at US$4,426.67 an ounce at 7.25 am in Singapore, extending the market’s effort to stabilise after a one per cent decline in the previous session.

The shift followed August payroll figures that exceeded market expectations while the unemployment rate held steady. Traders raised the estimated probability of a September rate increase to roughly 60 per cent from about 50 per cent earlier on 4 September. The Federal Open Market Committee is due to meet on 15–16 September, placing this week’s inflation data at the centre of the near-term outlook for precious metals.
