Kuala Lumpur, 17 September 2025 — Genting Malaysia Berhad’s indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Genting Americas Inc. (GAI), has filed a motion to dismiss the amended complaint brought by RAV Bahamas Ltd in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The amended complaint, submitted on 29 July 2025, mirrors earlier allegations but, according to Genting, introduces no new material facts. Genting says it will vigorously defend against the claims.
The case centres on Resorts World Bimini, a casino and hospitality complex in the Bahamas. Through its investment structure, Genting holds a 78% indirect interest in BB Entertainment Ltd, the operator of Resorts World Bimini; RAV Bahamas owns the remaining 22%. RAV Bahamas first filed suit in October 2024, accusing Genting Americas of saddling the resort with nearly US$1 billion in debt, which RAV claims unjustly burdened the business and turned its profits into losses. The plaintiff is seeking more than US$600 million in damages.
In July 2025, a court dismissed RAV’s original complaint, agreeing with Genting’s argument that the allegations amounted to a shareholders’ dispute rather than a viable legal claim. However, the court allowed RAV one final opportunity to amend its lawsuit. The newly filed complaint is now being contested by Genting Americas on the grounds that it fails to present any new evidence that could alter the earlier dismissal.
Genting Malaysia emphasised that the amended complaint is “baseless and without merit” in its Bursa filing. As of the latest, Genting Malaysia shares closed up by three sen (1.4%) to RM2.17, valuing the group at around RM12.10 billion.
