PASIR SALAK: Felcra Bhd has posted a profit of RM178 million as of April 2025, reflecting an increase compared to the same period last year.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, announced that RM101 million from this profit will be distributed in stages to 74,300 participants nationwide starting today.
“I congratulate Felcra Bhd for sustaining strong performance, with profits rising by nearly RM2 million year-on-year. I will personally monitor the distribution process to ensure all participants across the country receive their share,” he said at Felcra’s 2025 First Interim Distributable Profit Declaration Ceremony held here today.
Also present were Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang and Felcra Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Idris Lasim.
Ahmad Zahid further highlighted Felcra’s role in boosting national food security through the commercialisation of MRQ 107, a high-quality local fragrant rice variety developed as an alternative to imported brands. In Seberang Perak, more than 3,400 hectares under Felcra’s modern cultivation methods have produced encouraging results, with yields averaging eight metric tonnes per hectare annually.
“We anticipate production to surpass 27,000 metric tonnes of paddy, equivalent to over 16,000 metric tonnes of rice per year—enough to support thousands of families. This initiative should serve as a model for other paddy farmers,” he said.
Meanwhile, Idris noted that the strong interim performance was driven by efficient estate management and cost-saving strategies.
“By optimising the use of fertilisers, pesticides and other farm inputs, we managed to cut operational costs by 15% while boosting yields per hectare by 49%,” he said.
He added that Felcra’s oil palm projects also posted a robust performance, with average net profits rising 81%. While profit distribution remains linked to crude palm oil price movements, Idris stressed that improvements in estate productivity are the key factor.
