Kuala Lumpur, 4 September 2026 – The FBM KLCI opened lower as investors took profits after two consecutive sessions of gains, although positive market breadth indicated that buying interest remained present beyond the benchmark’s largest constituents. At 9.07am, the index was down 2.42 points, or 0.14%, at 1,712.71 from the previous close of 1,715.13.

The benchmark opened at 1,713.74, a decline of 1.39 points. Despite the softer index, 220 counters advanced against 123 decliners, while 294 were unchanged. Turnover reached 294.19 million shares valued at RM90.50 million, showing that the early decline reflected selective profit-taking rather than a market-wide retreat.
