E-Wallet Adoption Becomes a Cross-Generational Malaysian Habit

Kuala Lumpur, 10 August 2026 – E-wallet use in Malaysia is spreading beyond younger consumers, with new survey data showing the fastest growth among people aged 35 and above as digital payments become embedded in everyday spending.

A nationwide study of 1,029 Malaysians aged 18 to 74, conducted in April, found usage among 35-to-44-year-olds rose nine percentage points to 64%. Adoption among consumers aged 45 and above increased four points to 44%.
