DeepSeek’s V4 API Price Increase Tests the Economics of Low-Cost AI

Hangzhou, 13 August 2026 – DeepSeek is raising application-programming-interface pricing for its V4 models, introducing peak and off-peak rates that will make the cost of high-volume artificial intelligence workloads more dependent on timing, caching and model choice.

The new schedule is due to take effect at 16:00 UTC on 16 August. For V4 Flash, off-peak pricing is set at US$0.007 per million cached input tokens, US$0.22 for uncached input and US$0.66 for output, while peak rates double those levels. V4 Pro will cost US$0.022, US$0.66 and US$1.98 respectively during off-peak periods, also doubling at peak.
