China’s 1MW Perovskite Trial Outperforms Silicon in Three-Month Field Test

Nanjing, 16 August 2026 – A 1MW perovskite solar installation was compared with 3.5MW of silicon capacity at the same farm. Normalised results showed perovskite producing 3.42% more electricity in March, 3.79% in April and 5.81% in May.

A Nanjing University-led team reported a dining-table-sized panel with 22% efficiency and 158.4 watts of output, supported by coating and defect-passivation work designed for heat, humidity and temperature extremes.
