Washington, United States, 6 August 2026 – A China-linked spyware tool identified across 13 countries has sharpened concern over the ability of sophisticated surveillance campaigns to cross borders, reach sensitive networks and create material risk for companies as well as governments.
The geographic reach is significant because cyber operations rarely remain confined to their initial targets. Suppliers, telecommunications providers, cloud services and professional advisers can become indirect access points. A compromised partner may expose organisations that never interacted with the original operator.
