KUALA LUMPUR, 24 October 2025 — Bursa Malaysia traded firmer at the midday break on Friday, tracking regional peers and buoyed by gains in heavyweight counters amid improved global sentiment.
At 12:30 pm, the FBM KLCI rose 3.53 points to 1,611.53 from 1,608.00 at Thursday’s close, after moving between 1,607.03 and 1,612.77 throughout the morning session. Turnover reached 1.82 billion shares worth RM1.08 billion, with gainers outpacing losers 511 to 374, while 490 counters were unchanged.
Market sentiment strengthened after confirmation that U.S. President Donald Trump will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping next Thursday in South Korea, helping ease earlier trade tensions.
Top movers: Petronas Chemicals (+16 sen to RM4.12), MISC (+22 sen to RM7.73) and Tenaga Nasional (+8 sen to RM13.20) led gains, while Fraser & Neave (+46 sen to RM28.92) and Malaysian Pacific Industries (+22 sen to RM7.73) were among the day’s biggest climbers.
Decliners included United Plantations (–42 sen to RM24.00), Ayer Holdings (–38 sen to RM7.02), and Telekom Malaysia (–19 sen to RM7.22).
Analysts at Malacca Securities expect the benchmark to stay firm through the afternoon, supported by continued interest in technology counters following Wall Street’s overnight rally.
