Jakarta, 23 September 2026 – Bank Indonesia kept its benchmark BI Rate at 5.75% after a two-day policy meeting, prioritising rupiah stability while retaining support for domestic growth. The central bank also held its deposit facility at 4.75% and lending facility at 6.50%. These are the official September decisions; the 6.00% rate stated in the selected research headline does not match the central bank’s release.
The decision reflects an external environment in which energy costs, global interest rates and capital flows can change quickly. Bank Indonesia said its policy remains consistent with keeping inflation inside a 2.5% target band with a one-percentage-point margin in 2026 and 2027. Holding rates leaves room to assess those pressures without adding an immediate borrowing-cost shock to households and companies.
