Sydney, 3 September 2026 – The Australian dollar held near a 13-year high against the New Zealand dollar as investors priced an increasingly different outlook for the two countries’ interest rates. The Australian currency traded around NZ$1.2227 after surging roughly 1% overnight to NZ$1.2285, its strongest level against the kiwi in thirteen years.

The move was driven largely by New Zealand-dollar weakness. The kiwi recovered 0.2% to US$0.5863 after falling as low as US$0.5802, its weakest point since late July.
