Canberra, Australia, 11 August 2026 – Australia and Vietnam agreed to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership, placing critical minerals, semiconductors and clean energy at the centre of efforts to build more resilient supply chains and strengthen economic cooperation.
The agreement was announced during an official visit by Vietnamese President To Lam, who met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Canberra. Both governments expressed concern about restrictive trade practices that disrupt global supply chains and committed to closer coordination in strategically important industries.
