Washington, 28 June 2026 – Apple is reportedly lobbying the US government for clearance to buy memory chips from China’s ChangXin Memory Technologies, underscoring how the global artificial intelligence boom is reshaping technology supply chains and forcing even the world’s largest consumer-electronics companies to reconsider sourcing options.
The move comes as memory-chip prices surge amid heavy demand from AI data centres, cloud providers and server manufacturers. The shortage has placed pressure on companies that rely on DRAM and storage components for devices such as laptops, tablets, smartphones and servers.
