Melaka, 21 September 2026 – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has urged Malaysian political parties to stop exploiting racial issues for support, framing national unity and clean governance as essential to the country’s future. Speaking at the 41st Malaysia Chinese Cultural Festival, he argued that Malaysia must rely on the collective strength of its communities as it approaches seven decades of independence.
Anwar said racial appeals often return when parties face internal pressure or unfavourable political dynamics. His comments were presented as an appeal for leaders to focus on protecting the population, safeguarding the country and securing the future of children regardless of which group holds power. He also repeated a pledge of zero tolerance towards corruption and abuse of authority.
