Kuala Lumpur, 31 July 2026 – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has pledged stronger support for Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia in the upcoming national budget, placing microfinance and household enterprise closer to the centre of Malaysia’s inclusive-growth strategy. The signal raises expectations for additional funding, programme capacity or policy support, although final measures will depend on the budget.
AIM has long focused on extending small-scale financing and development support to lower-income entrepreneurs, many of them women operating microbusinesses. Its role is especially important for borrowers who may lack conventional collateral, formal credit histories or the scale required by commercial banks.
