Kuala Lumpur, 4 June 2026 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed confidence in Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s ability to support Malaysia’s energy transition and meet rising electricity demand driven by artificial intelligence, data centres and advanced computing infrastructure.
Speaking at the Energy Transition Conference organised by TNB at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Anwar said the rapid expansion of AI, data centres and semiconductor-related investments across the region would require greater energy and water resources. He said Malaysia must ensure that its energy systems remain resilient while technological progress continues to serve the public interest.
