San Francisco, 8 October 2026 – Anthropic has launched Claude Haiku 5.5, positioning its newest small artificial-intelligence model as a lower-cost engine for high-volume enterprise workloads. The release expands the Claude 5.5 family at a time when companies are moving beyond pilot projects and demanding models that can deliver predictable speed, security and unit economics at production scale.

The company describes Haiku 5.5 as its fastest and least expensive model, with average costs about 75% below those of Haiku 4.5. It is designed for tasks such as classification, summarisation, data extraction, customer support, voice agents and in-application assistants. Those uses may appear routine, but they account for a large share of inference volume once AI is embedded across an organisation.
