KUALA LUMPUR, 26 August 2025 – AirAsia X Bhd posted a remarkable turnaround in 2Q2025, posting a net profit of RM35.2 million, a steep climb from just RM4.8 million in the same quarter last year, thanks largely to favourable foreign exchange gains.
Despite this earnings boost, total revenue dipped slightly to RM660.8 million, down from RM669.1 million year-on-year. This performance came in the context of a 6% year-over-year expansion in available seat capacity, reflecting a softer fare environment typical of low travel seasons.
On the traffic front, passenger volume grew 6% to 935,105, and the airline maintained a solid load factor of 83%, consistent with last year’s levels.
Meanwhile, associate company AirAsia X Thailand logged RM372.82 million in revenue but incurred an operating loss of RM13.2 million for the quarter.
As of the end of June, AirAsia X’s fleet comprised 19 A330 aircraft, with 18 active and operational, while its Thai counterpart operated nine A330s after returning one to its lessor.
Looking at the first half of FY2025, the group’s net profit climbed to RM85.4 million, marginally up from RM85.0 million a year earlier, while revenue saw a more pronounced jump to RM2.0 billion from RM1.6 billion.
