Turin, 9 October 2026 – German robotics company Agile Robots is training industrial machines with video of people performing physical tasks, an approach intended to overcome the scarcity of high-quality data for embodied artificial intelligence. The programme captures hand and finger movements, combines them with other training inputs and allows robots to practise in simulation before deployment, potentially reducing the cost and time required to teach factory skills.
Chief executive Zhaopeng Chen described the method at a technology event in Turin. Through the company’s Robot Academy, workers demonstrate specific actions on camera while software records movement patterns. Those demonstrations are supplemented by teleoperation, fleet data and simulated environments, giving the system multiple ways to learn how objects behave and how a sequence of movements should be completed.
