Advancecon Secures RM66.9 Million IBTEC Contract, Expands Role in Johor-Singapore SEZ

Kuala Lumpur, 17 September 2025 — Advancecon Holdings Berhad (Bursa: 5281), a leading Malaysian provider of earthworks and civil engineering services, has deepened its footprint in Johor with a new RM66.9 million contract for the Southern Ibrahim Technopolis (IBTEC) development.

Through its wholly owned subsidiary Advancecon Infra Sdn Bhd (AISB), the group accepted a Letter of Acceptance from JLG Technopark Sdn Bhd to undertake Package 1 of Phase 1 earthworks and ancillary works for the IBTEC township in Kulai, Johor.

IBTEC is no ordinary township. Spanning 7,290 acres, the project is a flagship component of Iskandar Malaysia, designated in 2021 as Zone F, its sixth development corridor. Planned as a major circular city, IBTEC sits at the heart of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) — a cross-border initiative designed to catalyse investment, strengthen digital infrastructure, and pioneer sustainable urbanisation.

For Advancecon, this award is a landmark contract. It places the company in the early phases of one of Malaysia’s most ambitious township and economic zone developments, ensuring visibility and participation in projects tied to the long-term growth trajectory of southern Johor.

Strategic significance for Advancecon

Group CEO Dato’ Phum Ang Kia said the IBTEC contract underscored Advancecon’s position as a trusted partner in civil engineering and earthworks:

“We are proud to contribute to the groundwork of IBTEC, a strategic township within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone that symbolises Johor’s growth aspirations. This project not only enhances our presence in Johor but also aligns with our commitment to building infrastructure that supports long-term economic development, sustainability, and connectivity.”

The contract also expands Advancecon’s growing presence in Johor, complementing its portfolio of projects across Malaysia. With Johor poised to be a central beneficiary of the JS-SEZ — especially through inflows of Singaporean and international capital — positioning within early-stage infrastructure development gives Advancecon a strategic advantage.

Broader growth prospects

Advancecon has steadily diversified its capabilities beyond earthworks into quarry operations, renewable energy, and civil construction, making it a more integrated infrastructure partner. The company has highlighted its intent to leverage this contract win as part of a wider strategy to align with Malaysia’s infrastructure expansion and township development pipeline, particularly in economic corridors that tie into regional growth.

For Johor, IBTEC represents a bet on the future — a new township aimed at creating a sustainable, digitally connected urban hub that can serve as a magnet for industries and talent across Southeast Asia. For Advancecon, the project demonstrates how domestic engineering players can position themselves to ride on national development priorities and the cross-border dynamics of the JS-SEZ.
