SINGAPORE, 24 October 2025 – Global hospitality group Accor is expanding its presence in Asia with more than 230 hotels, representing close to 60,000 keys, currently under development. The activity reflects steady growth across the region’s hospitality sector and the Group’s ongoing strategy to consolidate its position in both established and emerging markets.

The Asia region remains a central pillar of Accor’s global development strategy. Growth has been strongest across its premium, midscale, and economy (PM&E) brands, supported by resilient domestic travel and rising demand for value-driven accommodation.

Conversion-friendly brands such as Mercure and Handwritten Collection continue to gain traction, while ibis and ibis Styles remain core to the Group’s affordable segment. The premium portfolio, comprising Pullman, Mövenpick, Grand Mercure, and Swissôtel, continues to expand in high-growth destinations.

Regional Development Momentum

Indonesia accounted for the highest number of signings this year with seven new projects, including Swissôtel Bali Nusa Dua. Thailand and Laos added five combined, featuring Mercure Phuket, the debut of Handwritten Collection in Bangkok, and a new ibis in Vientiane.

In the Philippines, four new signings, including Mercure Mactan Cebu and ibis Styles Clark, reflect growing interest in tier-2 markets. India continued to push into secondary cities with Pullman, Novotel, and ibis developments in Dehradun and Indore. Vietnam reached a milestone with its largest Mövenpick project, a 1,000-key resort in Danang, while Japan added Mercure Tokyu Stay Hiroshima.

Accor’s lifestyle division, Ennismore, is also expanding across the region with the first Rixos all-inclusive resort in Asia on Vietnam’s Hon Thom Island, Mondrian Maldives (opening 2026), and Mama Shelter Bangkok Platinum.

Within the luxury segment, the Group signed Sofitel Sapa Hotel & Residences in northern Vietnam, a project combining hotel and residential components slated for 2030 completion.

Recent and Upcoming Openings

Accor’s operational footprint in Asia grew in 2025 with several notable openings, including Pullman Hai Phong Grand Hotel in Vietnam, Pullman Ambassador Seoul Eastpole, and Swissôtel Living Jakarta Mega Kuningan, the first of its kind in the region. Other launches included TRIBE Phuket Patong and Novotel New Delhi City Centre.

Upcoming debuts before the year’s end include Grand Mercure Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang, Novotel Bali Ubud Resort, and Hotel Waterloo Singapore – Handwritten Collection.

In the luxury category, Raffles Sentosa Singapore opened this year, while Fairmont Mumbai and Fairmont Tokyo marked new milestones for the brand. Projects in the pipeline include Fairmont Hanoi, Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit, and Sofitel Diamond Crown Hai Phong, set to open in 2026. The Mama Shelter brand also made its regional debut in Singapore in September 2025.

Andrew Langdon, Chief Development Officer for Asia at Accor, said the Group’s recent performance reflects the continued resilience of Asia’s hospitality market.

“This has been another year of solid momentum for Accor in Asia. The region remains a driver of our long-term growth strategy, supported by strong fundamentals and deepening partnerships across markets,” he said.

Accor’s regional expansion comes as Asia’s hospitality sector experiences a wave of strategic realignment. Competitors such as Marriott International and Hilton have also ramped up their development pipelines across Southeast Asia and India, targeting business travel recovery and the return of Chinese outbound tourists.

Analysts note that while brand expansion remains robust, rising construction costs and shifting consumer expectations are prompting global chains to diversify their offerings, from extended stays to lifestyle and midscale experiences. In this competitive landscape, Accor’s broad portfolio positions it to capture growth across multiple market segments as the region’s travel economy evolves.
