ISKANDAR PUTERI, 30 October 2025 – Permodalan Darul Ta’zim (PDT) and UEM Lestra Bhd (UEM Lestrad) are partnering to develop a one gigawatt (GW) hybrid solar photovoltaic project located in Segamat, Johor.
PDT Group President and CEO, Datuk Ramlee A. Rahman and UEM Lestra CEO Harman Faiz Habib Muhamad signed the agreement at the ‘Accelerating Malaysia’s Green Transition: From Vision to Action’ event in Sunway Big Box yesterday.
The solar project is estimated to produce over one million megawatt-hours (MWh) of green power a year and cut carbon emissions by up to 800,000 tonnes.
The strategic partnership is in line with the Johor Renewable Energy Policy 2030, and will expand the southern state’s green economy sector.
Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad, Johor Sustainability Centre Chairman, witnessed the partnership and said, “The hybrid solar project in Segamat will not only reduce carbon emissions but also create opportunities for Johorians.”
The joint venture collaboration will add 10,000 new jobs over the course of construction and operations. As part of the agreement, PDT will work with relevant state authorities and head coordination efforts while UEM Lestra will oversee the building and implementation of the project through its joint venture firm Lestra HEXA.
Operations are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2028.
